Role Description

The Medical Records Specialist is a vital member of the Patient Experience & Service Operations (PXSO) team at Oak Street Health. This role champions the organization's mission to rebuild healthcare as it should be by improving care coordination through medical records retrieval. The Medical Records Specialist ensures timely and effective retrieval of medical records from previous physicians and for referral appointments as an essential aspect of ensuring continuity of care for Oak Street Health patients.

Core Responsibilities

  • Access master list of outstanding records requests daily and track status of all requests
  • Retrieve medical records by following standard procedures

Upload medical records to patient charts within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) by

following established routing procedures

  • Maintain patient confidence by keeping patient records information confidential
  • Keep health care providers informed by communicating availability and status of the records
  • Maintain process improvement opportunities within workflow and technology tools
  • Hybrid work on-site and work from home
  • Meets standard performance metrics
  • Meet minimum quality standards
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year general office administrative experience required
  • Data entry experience required
  • Ability to comfortably navigate several concurrent workflows and electronic platforms
  • A flexible and positive attitude
  • Strong computer skills and basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in providing excellent customer service
  • Professional phone etiquette

The Typical Pay Range For This Role Is

$17.00 - $31.30

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.
