The Landon Lower School Library provides resources and programming with the goal of promoting lifelong learning and reading. The program is integrated into the curriculum at all grade levels and subject areas. The ideal candidate will support students individually and in scheduled classes to help them foster a love of literature, acquire research skills, develop information literacy, and become sophisticated consumers of rapidly expanding information sources and technologies.

Key Responsibilities
- Library Administrator: Create a welcoming library space, develop the library's collection, and utilize Follett Destiny to track inventory, catalog resources, and manage circulation.
- Collaborate with the school’s STEM coordinator and Ed Tech team to create mutually supporting curricula and projects.
- Foster a love of reading through engaging library programming, such as author visits, reading contests and challenges, literacy-themed celebrations, book talks, reading clubs, and library displays.
- Instructional Support and Faculty Collaboration: Teach information literacy skills, research skills, and digital citizenship, and collaborate with teachers to develop lesson plans and support students during the research process.
- Guide students and staff in effectively using online databases, e-books, audiobooks and other digital library resources.
- Teaching responsibilities: Teach Lower School Library Classes (Grades 3-6) including skills such as citations, web searches, and using databases.
- Participate in grade-level meetings and curriculum planning sessions to ensure library services support instructional goals.
- Stay informed about educational technology trends and introduce digital tools and platforms that enhance learning and research.
- Experience working with elementary-aged children, preferably in an educational setting.
- Knowledge of diverse children’s literature and current trends in publishing for grades 3-6.
- Experience creating engaging library programming and events.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Master of Library Science (MLS) or Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) is helpful but not required.
- Landon Teacher Coach Mentors will be required to coach two seasons of Lower School Sports
