The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is seeking a Senior Program Director, Youth & Government to lead and expand our premier civic education programs.

In this high-impact position, you will drive the growth and excellence of the YMCA’s Youth & Government and Model General Assembly programs, shaping transformative experiences that empower young people to engage in civic life. You’ll cultivate relationships with elected officials, school systems, and community partners while delivering top-tier youth programming rooted in leadership, democracy, and service.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Education, or related field.
  • Proven leadership in youth development, government affairs, or civic education.
  • Skilled in partnership development and stakeholder engagement across diverse communities.
  • Knowledgeable in legislative processes and civic learning best practices.
  • Strong communicator and collaborator with fundraising experience.

Essential Functions

  • Lead and Expand Youth & Government programs across DC, VA, and MD, including launching initiatives in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties.
  • Design Dynamic Learning through civic-based curricula, leadership opportunities, and experiential education models.
  • Build Strategic Partnerships with schools, community organizations, elected officials, and policymakers.
  • Drive Operational Excellence by managing budgets, leading staff, evaluating program impact, and securing external funding.
