Description

Position Definition:

The Brain imaging and EEG Laboratory is looking for a postdoctoral research scholar with advanced training in neuroscience, data science, signal processing, and analysis of human electroencephalography data, to pursue innovative brain science to answer complex questions about the development of psychotic disorders in youth at clinical high risk for psychosis (CHR-P) using data from a large-scale multi-site longitudinal study. This is a unique opportunity to work in close collaboration with our team of neuroscientists, psychologists and psychiatrists, and to use your data analysis skills to identify neurophysiological biomarkers that predict clinical outcomes in CHR-P youth and young adults.

Essential Functions

  • Program new scripts in MATLAB and other programming languages as needed.
  • Prepare and export appropriately organized EEG output data for higher level analysis.
  • Apply quality assurance and data cleaning algorithms to ensure analysis of high-quality EEG data.
  • Analyze EEG data sets on an individual subject and group level.
  • Prepare and submit scientific manuscripts for publication describing the results of data analyses.
  • Work with lab’s bioengineer to improve existing data processing pipelines and develop new pipelines to generate novel measures and analytic results.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Ph.D. in neuroscience, psychology, bioengineering, or related fields.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills including experience conducting signal processing and statistical analyses of EEG data.
  • Comfortable scripting in MATLAB and working in Windows, Linux/Unix, and Mac OSX environments.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Working Conditions/Environment

The work environment for this position is an indoor office, although remote work is also possible.

The base wage range for this position is $68,640.00 - $79,639.96 per year. Salary and rank will commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. The wage actually offered to a successful candidate will take into account various relevant and non-discriminatory business factors including, without limitation, the candidate’s geographic location, job-related experience, knowledge, and skills, and education, as well as internal equity considerations. A successful candidate may also be eligible to earn additional compensation including bonuses.

NCIRE is an Equal Opportunity Employer. This position requires access to United States Government research under the Veterans Administration. Per Veterans Administration regulations surrounding access to US research, qualified US Citizens will be selected over other individuals eligible to work in the United States. If you are eligible to work in the United States, you may still be considered for this position but only if no qualified US citizens apply.
