Job Description: vLabs is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator/Engineer to support advanced technical training course environments. This role involves working with HPE server systems, converged systems, enterprise networking, storage environments, and various software solutions.
Responsibilities: We are looking for a motivated, organized, and solution-oriented team player to join our state-of-the-art remote training lab.
The responsibilities include:
The physical provisioning, installing, configuring, operating, maintaining, and supporting the software and hardware infrastructure for HPE training solutions.
Conducting technical research, planning, design, and development to ensure continuous innovation and adherence to organizational standards and quality.
Managing tasks related to HPE Servers, Networking, Storage, Cloud, and Converged Systems.
Working on multiple projects simultaneously, in a fast-paced environment, and providing ongoing support for production environments.
Duties such as equipment setup (rack, cable, label), course design and development, and delivery support.
Additional activities include project documentation, equipment requests, R&D, technical analysis and design, and supporting operations staff in executing, testing, and rolling out solutions.
Ensuring smooth transitions from development to production.
Knowledge and Skills:
Systems Management: Expertise in HPE Servers (or other Enterprise OEM) running Linux, Windows, or VMware systems, FC and iSCSI shared storage, L2/L3 managed switches.
Responsibilities: Engineering, provisioning, operations, support, maintenance, and R&D for continuous innovation.
Experience: Working with servers, scalable/distributed computing technologies, virtualization technology, distributed systems, networking, and storage systems.
Collaboration: Working with Program Managers, Instructors, and Subject Matter Experts to deliver innovative technology solutions.
Automation: Creating scripting and automation solutions to configure software and hardware to a desired state.
Requirements:
Proven working experience with servers (preferred HPE ProLiant, Synergy, Apollo - DL/BL/SL series servers) - required
General knowledge of Linux - RHEL / Debian based Operating Systems - required
Ability to troubleshoot problems (identification, characterization, documentation, and resolution) - required
General knowledge of VMware vSphere product line - required
General knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server and their main services (DNS, DHCP, etc.) - required
General knowledge of other hypervisor products (Hyper-V / Proxmox / oVirt) - desired
Experience with managed network switches (HPE, Cisco, Juniper, etc.) - desired
Solid understanding of network technologies, L2/L3 managed switches, including IPv4 stack, subnets, routing, VLANs - desired
Experience with FC and iSCSI shared storage - desired
Industry-standard software or hardware certifications would be a plus
Preferred Candidate Profiles:
Systems administrators (mid/senior, generalists with experience in both Windows and Linux, and exposure to hardware/infrastructure)
Systems integrators (integrated solutions involving HW + Linux or Windows or both)
