Systems Documentation/Engineering Technical Writer

Job Description:

• The Data Center Technical Writing Team provides highly critical documentation that supports data center teams to perform essential business functions such as:
• Maintain the global fleet of networking and storage hardware.
• Maintain mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Deliver programs such as safety and security.

Responsibilities:

• You will be a part of a team of global technical writers who develop documentation for operations in the data centers.
• You will interact with engineering and other operations groups to create and edit documentation deliverables.
• Edit, revise, and restructure a wide range of documents based on input provided by engineering and program management teams.
• Engage with global SMEs and other technical writers to understand technical requirements and use this information to update documentation.
• Update work management tools and provide status updates on work.

Required:

• 5+ years of technical writing experience, preferably in hardware, electrical systems, or technical environments (e.g., data centers, manufacturing, supply chain).
• Background in hardware documentation (e.g., server repair, mechanical systems, facilities maintenance).
• Experience creating how-to guides, standard work instructions, emergency procedures, or technical specifications.
• Familiarity with fast-paced, confidential environments (e.g., data centers, defense, or engineering sectors).
• Proficiency in authoring tools such as Markdown, GitHub, etc.

Skills:

• Strong technical writing quality with the ability to interview SMEs and translate complex information into clear documentation.
• Adaptability to proprietary tools/systems (training provided) and willingness to learn new tools (experience with Markdown, GitHub, or similar is a plus).
• Fast learner with the ability to build domain knowledge quickly.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
