Solutions Architect

**This is a contract position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver robust solution architecture for complex IT ecosystems with a focus on cloud-native services, especially within AWS environments.
- Translate business goals into functional architecture using data-driven and event-based models.
- Evaluate SaaS and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) platforms for fit and alignment with organizational strategy.
- Create and enforce enterprise-wide integration standards using APIs, microservices, and service-oriented architectures (SOA).
- Establish architecture frameworks to ensure application security, scalability, and performance across varied platforms.
- Drive strategic adoption of analytics frameworks, leveraging tools such as AWS EMR, Redshift, and Apache Spark using Python or R.
- Collaborate with stakeholders on business architecture, aligning technological outcomes with long-term organizational goals.
- Guide software teams in secure, high-availability solutions; assess risk, develop contingency strategies, and optimize resource utilization.
- Provide thought leadership in data architecture including data lakes, warehouses, marts, and operational data stores.
- Lead design reviews and mentoring efforts to elevate technical teams and architecture best practices.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in IT systems architecture or enterprise solutions engineering.
- Strong experience designing solutions in public cloud environments, particularly AWS native services.
- Advanced understanding of enterprise integration patterns including messaging queues, event streaming, and RESTful APIs.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java or Python.
- Hands-on experience with relational databases like Oracle, SQL Server, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with containerization platforms and application servers (e.g., Tomcat, WebLogic, JBoss).
- Solid grounding in both real-time and batch processing systems.
- Strong visual and process flow documentation capabilities using modeling tools and frameworks.
- Experience coaching development teams and leading architectural decision-making within cross-functional teams.
