Data/Integration Engineer
Role: Integration/ Data Engineer
100% Remote
6 month contract
Overview:
Our client is looking for an Integration/Data Engineer to support a key initiative involving the implementation of a new vendor platform, TechOil, that is replacing legacy ERP systems for our Crude Oil Trade Capture and Settlement team. This program introduces significant new data integrations, event-based architectures, and visibility into trade data flows. The need is driven by bandwidth constraints on the internal team not a lack of skills so we re looking for strong contract resources who can hit the ground running. Industry experience is a bonus, more valuable
Day To Day:
Support ongoing integration efforts as part of the TechOil vendor platform rollout, working across crude oil trade capture and settlement workflows.
Lead the development of high-level and detailed technical documentation for event-driven data integrations.
Partner closely with engineering teams to identify integration points, scope gaps, and undocumented workflows.
Define and document data ingress/egress pathways and design system interfaces that leverage AWS-native services.
Assist with requirements gathering for trade tax integration and broker API interfaces.
Map sample data shapes, outline message flows, and contribute to logging and alerting strategies using tools like CloudWatch and Splunk.
Contribute to the master data strategy and help support graph database integrations (e.g., Neo4j) and Cypher query development where applicable.
Technical Background:
Solid understanding of AWS event-based architectures, including EventBridge, S3, and SQS.
Experience working in data integration environments ideally with event-driven platforms.
Comfortable working alongside engineers to explore and document system behaviors (no coding expected, but must be highly technical).
Familiarity with API integrations, including RESTful APIs for trade data exchange.
Knowledge of logging and monitoring tools like CloudWatch or Splunk.
Experience working with graph databases (Neo4j preferred), including understanding of node-based data relationships and Cypher query language.
Exposure to master data strategies and data governance principles is a plus
