Job Description

| Job Title | Storage Administrator L3

Location: San Diego, California, United States

| Technical/Functional Skills -MUST HAVE SKILLS | -

Storage is an individual contributing role and will be responsible to provide level 3 operations support to sempra clients Storage environments. Additional responsibilities include training and mentoring junior members in the operations team.

Main Duties:

  1. Administer, maintain, troubleshoot, and support large complex multi-platform Storage environment that includes large fibre channel SAN with multiple directors, servers, storage frames technologies.
  2. Perform root cause analysis for major issues and also provide workarounds to ensure business continuity.
  3. Identify, analyse and resolve problems specifically on storage, backup and in general, cross platform environments.
  4. Change Management: Prepare Implementation plan, rollback plan and test plan, risk and impact analysis for critical or complex changes. Review the change plan and documentation prepared by level 2 engineers or peers.
  5. Participate in CAB meetings as needed and assist change manager in techno-operations decision process.
  6. Assist in the creation of processes and procedures required for service delivery.
  7. Perform routine, planned and emergency maintenance (change planning and implementation) of storage data canter equipment.
  8. Identify single-point-of-failure and plan to mitigate the same.
  9. Fulfil critical / complex service requests.
  10. Availability and capacity planning and management: keep a track of uptime and capacity utilization of storage systems and publish reports to management.
  11. Execute additional tasks given to meet internal IT projects milestones and willingness to put additional hours when ever required.
  12. Ensure all services are delivered as per agreed SLAs/OLAs, quality and scope.
  13. Update and close tickets, update documents (such as handover documents, root cause analysis, analysis and recommendations to reports, post incident reviews) in a timely manner with high quality.
  14. Communicate with and log calls with vendors or 3rd parties where necessary in order to resolve issues related to storage technologies.
  15. Train oversee tasks executed by junior members and stand in for them if needed.
  16. Suggest, influence and implement improvements in the environment (such as issue optimization, automation, streamlining process, etc.), thereby contribute to improvement of overall operations delivery and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • 8 10 years work experience relevant to enterprise level storage and backup platforms in particular EMC Storage
  • Should be a subject matter expert in:
  • EMC VMAX/Powermax, Isilon and Dell ECS series storage arrays.
  • Excellent Administration/Design and Implementation knowledge in EMC VMAX, Isilon & ECS arrays.
  • Excellent Administration/Design knowledge in Storage replications.
  • Broad and in-depth knowledge of SAN technologies design, planning, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Experience on troubleshoot and maintain SAN infrastructure performance, hardware, and connectivity.
  • Very good experience on Cisco and Brocade series FC switches.
  • Very good experience on SAN storage provisioning, LUN masking, SYMCLI and zoning.
  • Experience on Storage capacity planning, performance analysis, monitoring, reporting.
  • Very good understanding NFS, CIFS, and Fiber Channel protocols.
  • Very good experience in supporting and managing the replication (SRDF, SYNCIQ).
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting medium to large scale, multi-site, enterprise storage environments.
  • Knowledge on multiple operating systems like windows, Linux and UNIX .
  • Basic experience on Cisco Nexus Series Switches is an added advantage.
  • Hands on experience of working on monitoring tools / management platforms.
  • Relevant certifications are added advantage (either of EMC and NetApp, Brocade, Cisco).
  • Good understanding of operational framework like ITIL/ITSM, operations process.
  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written.
  • Willingness to work in shifts and provide on call support in a 24x7 environment.

A candidate s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law.
