
Supervisory Social Worker (Clinical)
- Make behavioral health diagnoses and provide individual and group therapy, using various modalities such as brief problem-focused psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and client-centered therapy through evidence based clinical modalities.
- Provide targeted assessments of patients, including diagnostic impressions or functional status focused on the presenting problem.
- Plan and organize work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust long and short-term priorities, and prepare schedules for completion of work.
- Supervise assigned professional and paraprofessional employees, military personnel, federal civilian employees, and provide technical oversight to contract employees assigned to the Clinic.
- Review and approve the appropriate modality of each patient as well as future disposition direction

- One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.

- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

Basic Requirement for Supervisory Social Worker (Clinical):
Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting bio-psychosocial evaluations, providing individual and group therapy, formulating behavioral health interventions, and instructing others on work and/or administrative matters. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.
