Overview

There is currently an opportunity available in the East Penn Personnel Department for an INDUSTRIAL (PROCESS) ENGINEER. The Industrial (Process) Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and evaluation of manufacturing systems for managing industrial production processes including staff requirements, logistics and material flow, cost analysis, and production coordination.

Responsibilities

•Applying statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and production standards. Creates model structures to calculate control points of processes using machine settings, timers, conveyor speeds, etc.

•Study operations sequence, material flow, functional statements, organization charts, and project information to determine worker functions and responsibilities.

•Studying and recording time, motion, methods, and speed involved in performance of production processes and other worker operations to establish standard production rate and to improve efficiency.

•Prepare charts, graphs, and diagrams to illustrate workflow, routing, floor layouts, material handling, and machine utilization.

•Observes workers operating equipment or performing tasks to determine time involved and manual functions, using stop watch and similar equipment.

•Recommends revision of methods of operation or material handling, alterations in equipment layout, or other changes to increase production or improve standards.

•Aids in making recommendations on machine capacity, production output, and anticipated delays.

•Monitors success of implemented recommendations using reports and graphs to display data trending.

•Utilizes Minitab to create trending data and regression schedules.

Qualifications

The qualified candidate should possess excellent oral/written communication skills, excellent organizational skills, and be flexible on working hours. A 2-year or 4-year degree in Industrial Engineering, Industrial Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering or Process Engineering is required, or equivalent work experience would be considered. Having 1-2 years' experience in a manufacturing environment working with production flows or continuous improvement/lean methodology is preferred but not required. Equivalent work experience is considered.
