Paralegal - Commercial Real Estate

Our client is a developer, owner and manager of a diverse portfolio of properties. The Corporate Paralegal is a key member of the legal team at The Company and has significant responsibility for paralegal aspects of many corporate, development, finance and other (non-retail) operations of the Company.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Virginia Notary, or willingness to become one
- At least 3 years of paralegal experience in a law firm or corporate legal department with a general background in real estate (acquisitions and sales and/or settlements and/or corporate matters);
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly MS Word, and Adobe Acrobat;
- Highest levels of integrity, professionalism, work ethic, dependability and maintenance of confidentiality.
Paralegal Operations:
· Provide general paralegal and administrative support to the Legal Department, as well as the Development, Residential, Commercial and Retail teams;
· Provide general paralegal and administrative support to the Company, including coordinating execution of documents, notarization;
· Prepare and manage checklists;
· Review Contracts, calendar deadlines and prepare contract summaries;
· Review title commitments, title exception documents, surveys, and participate in other due diligence review for real estate acquisitions;
· Organize/coordinate closing documents for commercial and residential closings from start to finish, including tracking post-closing matters and preparation of closing binders;
· Prepare documents and coordinate process and documentation for 1031 exchange transactions;
· Prepare wide variety of legal documents, including, license agreements, purchase and service agreements, promissory notes, deeds, residential and office leases, amendments to contracts and leases, etc.;
· Prepare and file corporate documents for corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships in various jurisdictions, including formation, amendments and terminations;
· Maintain corporate entities (including filing annual reports, preparation and coordination of execution of resolutions, certification letters, amendments to organizational documents, etc.)
· Support the Finance Department throughout the commercial loan transaction process; and
· Work with title companies, surveyors, outside counsel and other real estate professionals.
