Software Engineer II
Job Summary
We’re looking for a mid-level Software Engineer to join our small, mission-driven development team. Together, we build the tools and systems that power our research data products — rich, high-quality datasets that combine genomic information (which we generate) with phenotypic data like patient demographics and medical history.
These data products are central to our mission: powering early stage research into life-altering diseases for which breakthroughs are badly needed.
As part of a remote-first team, you’ll collaborate closely with teammates in a tight feedback loop (lots of Slack and Zoom every day), constantly working together to ship features that matter. Your work will have a direct impact on the capabilities that make our business go.
Who You Are
- Comfortable in the deep end — new stuff and ambiguity don’t rattle you; they activate you
- Serious about your profession, and actively engaged with how AI is changing it
- A collaborator who prefers a tight-knit team – and a teammate that can be counted on
- A pragmatic developer who’s fast and fluent in code, freeing you to focus on the bigger picture – the “what” and the “why”
- Motivated by meaningful work and real-world impact
Key Responsibilities
- Define, design, implement and support software capabilities that support our data business: data cleansing and consolidation pipelines; workflow management; product definition and delivery
- Act independently, including directly engaging peers to effect change, with minimal prompting
- Participate fully in team rhythms: standups, sprint planning, retros, and backlog grooming
- Review code, submit PRs, and contribute to a strong engineering feedback culture
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or academic equivalent
- 3 years of experience producing and supporting full-stack production code
- .NET Core + React/TypeScript (but comparable stack experience may suffice)
- Advanced SQL chops
- Nice to have
- Handling data volume (100M-1B record tables); data transformation pipelines
- Applying ML to streamline human judgment tasks
- We value a variety of paths into software engineering. If you have equivalent experience or strong capability but don’t meet every listed qualification, we encourage you to apply.
Benefits
- Competitive salary
- Flexible work hours
- Paid family leave
- Health, Dental and Vision Insurance
- Accident & Critical Illness Insurance
- Voluntary Life, AD&D
- Long & Short Term Disability
How to Apply
Please submit your resume, cover letter, and any relevant portfolio or work samples to Human Resources at [email protected]. Include "Software Engineer II Application" in the subject line.
We encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply.
