Sr. Director of Data - CPG
Position Overview
We're seeking a visionary and results-driven Senior Director of Data to lead our enterprise data strategy, governance, and platform initiatives. This leader will build and scale data capabilities across the organization, enabling actionable insights and AI/ML-powered decision-making. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership finesse to influence at the executive level and drive a high-performance data culture.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Data Strategy: Define and lead the execution of a holistic data strategy that aligns with corporate objectives and fuels digital transformation.
Data Governance & Quality: Establish scalable governance frameworks to ensure data accuracy, privacy, security, and compliance (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
Data Architecture & Platforms: Oversee modern data infrastructure (e.g., data lakes, warehouses, streaming) with technologies like Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, and Kafka.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, R&D, and IT to embed data-driven practices and deliver business impact.
AI/ML Enablement: Drive initiatives to operationalize predictive analytics, personalization, demand forecasting, and more using AI/ML models.
Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of data engineers, architects, analysts, and scientists.
Vendor & Tooling Strategy: Manage relationships with external partners and drive evaluations of data and analytics tools.
Executive Reporting: Provide regular updates and strategic recommendations to executive leadership and key stakeholders.
Qualifications
12+ years of experience in data/analytics leadership roles, with at least 5 years in a senior management capacity.
Proven success building data organizations within a CPG, retail, or eCommerce company.
Deep understanding of modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks), cloud infrastructure (AWS/Google Cloud Platform/Azure), and BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker).
Familiarity with CDPs, first-party data strategies, and consumer insights analytics.
Strong grasp of data privacy regulations and risk management.
Experience influencing C-suite executives and collaborating across business units.
Exceptional communication, storytelling, and leadership skills.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field (Master's or MBA preferred).
