Description

SAIC is looking for a Software Engineer to support the Common Control Services Software Support Activity (CCS SSA) team in Port Hueneme, CA. Must be local to area as this is a HYBRID/REMOTE role. This is an on-site opportunity to support the software, control and monitor Unmanned Surface Vessels (USV). In addition, you may be required to travel to installations or test locations. Design software systems for Unmanned Operations to meet security, performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability requirements. Primary responsibility is to Design for Test/Design for Debug (DFT/DFD).

JOB DUTIES:
  • Required to communicate with the software development teams to troubleshoot applications by providing appropriate level of technical details and required to communicate with Fleet Operators to capture relevant data for the software development team.
  • Document technical solutions and articulate these solutions to both team members and customers.
  • Provide support to update and field applications real-time on both ashore and afloat data systems.
  • Travel to remote sites/ships as required to meet operational requirements.
  • Will be required to work closely with engineers and technicians of various disciplines supporting leading edge technology.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineer preferred; commensurate education and two (2) experience in a software testing applicable to US Navy/DoD software applications acceptable.
  • Must have an active Secret Clearance.
  • Proficient in two of the following programming languages: Python, Java, C++, JavaScript.
  • Experience with Linux (RHEL is preferable) and containerization Technologies (Docker, OpenShift).
  • Familiarity with debugger (Chrome Developer Tools is preferable) and Python for software debugging.
  • Experience with robotics, autonomy, and control systems a plus.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Understanding of networking and public cloud concepts with experience preferred.
  • Analyze current technology environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement. Able to work independently in a fast-paced office environment.



DESIRED SKILLS:
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks on time with minimal supervision.
  • Able to go underway on small ships.

Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
