Head of Projects – USA

Location: Houston, TX (Galleria area)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Compensation: Up to $165,000 base salary plus performance-based incentives.

A global freight forwarder is establishing a new U.S.-based Project Cargo Division headquartered in Houston, TX. This is a start-from-scratch leadership role for an experienced logistics professional with both operational and commercial expertise in project logistics.

There is no existing project infrastructure in place. You will be responsible for building it.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and launch the company’s U.S. project cargo division including structure, systems, vendor network, and team
  • Lead operations for breakbulk, out-of-gauge (OOG), heavy lift, RO/RO, flat rack, and multimodal shipments
  • Create and implement standard operating procedures to support safe, compliant, and cost-effective execution
  • Manage commercial strategy including RFQ responses, pricing models, proposal development, and client meetings
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships across U.S. ports, terminals, crane operators, heavy haul, and ground logistics
  • Deliver full-cycle project oversight from route planning to delivery
  • Maintain ownership of the division’s P&L with a clear focus on generating ROI through project wins and repeat business
  • Act as the primary interface between executive leadership, clients, operations, and overseas offices

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in international freight forwarding or project logistics
  • Hands-on knowledge of industrial and complex cargo handling including breakbulk and OOG freight
  • Strong understanding of port operations, heavy haul, charter logistics, and multimodal transport
  • Experience responding to EPC and industrial RFQs and delivering commercially viable solutions
  • Ability to operate without an existing framework and build a division from ground level
  • Familiarity with project logistics software and shipment planning tools
  • P&L management and leadership experience within a logistics environment

  • Based in or willing to relocate to Houston, TX (Galleria area)
  • Brings a mix of commercial instinct and operational discipline
  • Comfortable leading conversations with engineering, procurement, and site-level stakeholders
  • Understands the urgency, precision, and planning required in project logistics
