As a Senior Software and Systems Safety Engineer, you will play a critical role in our dynamic team. You will be responsible for ensuring the safety of embedded software used in military systems, particularly missile systems. This includes involvement in missile system upgrades, integration, and safety engineering in defense environments. Your role will encompass the development and execution of system safety planning, defining safety design criteria, and conducting safety verification processes. You will also work closely with cross-functional teams and contribute to safety documentation and hazard analyses. This role requires a strong engineering background, preferably in software, systems engineering, or safety engineering.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement safety processes for embedded software used in military systems, ensuring compliance with relevant Safety Standards and Protocols.
2. Lead missile system upgrades, integration, and safety engineering tasks in defense environments.
3. Develop and execute system safety planning, define safety design criteria, and conduct safety verification processes.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety measures across all aspects of system design and implementation.
5. Prepare and maintain safety documentation, perform hazard analyses, and recommend mitigation strategies.
6. Ensure compliance with all contractual safety requirements on DoD contracts or military programs.
7. Use DOORS and Hazard Analysis tools to manage requirements and risks, and to facilitate safety analyses.
Qualifications:
1. Must have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
2. 12+ years of recent and related work experience, with at least 4 years spent specifically on the safety of embedded software used in military systems.
3. Experience with Software Safety.
4. Proven track record in missile system upgrades, integration, and safety engineering in defense environments.
5. Familiarity with Safety Standards and Protocols.
6. Practical experience in developing and executing system safety planning, defining safety design criteria, and conducting safety verification processes.
7. Demonstrable experience in Integration and Coordination with Cross-Functional Teams.
8. Experience with Safety Documentation and Hazard Analyses.
9. Prior experience working on DoD contracts or military programs.
10. Strong engineering background, preferably in software, systems engineering, or safety engineering.
11. Proficiency in DOORS and Hazard Analysis tools.
