Job Title: Quality Control Specialist

Location: Coraopolis, PA

Shift: First Shift (Full-Time)

Reports To: Operations Manager

Company Overview

We are a precision manufacturer specializing in low-volume, high-complexity machined parts, including mechanical seals and components for the fluid control industry. With a team of ~40 employees and a focus on industrial excellence, we pride ourselves on quality craftsmanship, attention to detail, and continuous improvement. We are ISO 9001 certified and JCP compliant, serving a range of demanding industrial sectors.

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Control Specialist to lead all quality assurance activities across our shop floor. This is a hands-on, office-based position that sits right alongside our team of 6–8 skilled machinists. As the sole QC professional, you’ll play a critical role in maintaining our quality standards, identifying and preventing defects, and using tools like the FARO Arm to validate complex geometries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of machined parts, mechanical seals, and assemblies.
  • Use precision inspection tools including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and FARO Arms to verify critical dimensions.
  • Develop and maintain inspection documentation in accordance with ISO 9001 and JCP standards.
  • Interpret complex mechanical drawings and GD&T specifications.
  • Collaborate with machinists to resolve dimensional or process issues; act as a liaison between the shop floor and management on quality concerns.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
  • Maintain calibration records, inspection logs, and non-conformance reports.
  • Support audits and customer inspections as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a quality control role within a precision machining or manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with inspection tools and FARO Arm or other portable CMM technology.
  • Prior experience as a machinist or strong understanding of machining processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and initiative to identify and address quality concerns proactively.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort working closely with machinists and the operations team.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and quality documentation practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with low-volume, high-mix production environments.
  • Familiarity with JCP compliance.
  • Background in contract manufacturing for the fluid control, industrial, or sealing sectors.
  • ERP system exposure (EstiTrack a plus, but not required).

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to own the quality process and make a visible impact in a growing business.
  • Office-based role with close access to the shop floor.
  • Flexible compensation and benefits package.
  • Career advancement opportunities as we scale operations and grow the team.
