Copywriter - Gen A / Beauty
GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE
The Copywriter is well-versed in copy editing, writing and branding within retail, advertising, and/or editorial.
The ideal candidate has a portfolio of work demonstrating mastery translating concepts and briefs into tactical copy, tailoring messages to audiences based on channel best practices and adhering to a particular brand voice.
Preferred experience includes omnichannel retail across store, direct mail, email, digital and social, and/or digital editorial content across multiple digital channels (email, mobile, site, etc.).
A strong understanding of beauty and lifestyle is preferred.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions)
- Support paid media (including UB Media team and internal core marketing team) in reviewing brand provided copy and providing edits to ensure copy aligns with the UB brand voice
- Develop fluency in Ulta Beauty copy guidelines and provide copy edits based on mechanics and brand voice
- Provide brand-partner facing feedback and rationale for edits
- Collaborate closely with designers to ensure messaging and tone
- Work in multiple project management and proofing platforms, including Monday.com, Workfront, Sketch, Figma & Frontify
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- BA in Journalism, English or Creative Writing, Advertising, or related fields
- 2+ years writing and editing experience in agency, editorial or in-house
- Experience working in Gen A
- Familiarity and experience with AP Style
- Strong emotional intelligence, able to manage up and across and initiate communication
- Ability to work well under pressure, be flexible and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize strategic messages into consumer-friendly copy
- Ability to receive and respond to feedback to pivot when necessary
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
