Technical Writer
The Technical Writer is responsible for our clients' technical documentation. They will work with the engineering, lab, technical services, product management and marketing departments to create or edit product user manuals, labels, installation and operation guides, training guides, and other technical literature for the various product lines. They will act as the focal point for technical document development, planning, coordination, process review and approval from document creation to release.
Technical Writer Responsibilities:
- Creation of technical content for product support literature, based on hands-on interaction with the products and support from engineering, product management, lab and technical services.
- Selecting and/or creating photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts for illustration or communication of technical information within the documents
- Efficient layout of technical documentation into a standard, well organized, and publishable format
- Maintaining records and files of work-in-process, released work, and revision updates
- Arranging for duplication and distribution of materials
- Writing technical tips & bulletins for internal and external communication
- Delivering production-quality documents to meet product launch deadlines
- Preparing electronic documents for Internet and enabled devices
- Develop other technical documentation development needs as required
Technical Writer Requirements:
- BA in Communication, English, technical communication field of study.
- 3+ years in a technical writing position
- Computer/Software Proficiency: Apple or PC OS; Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop); Adobe Acrobat Pro; Microsoft Visio; Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Proficiency proofreading and editing English-language documents
- Familiarity with engineering development processes and product installation & functionality
- Interact with, set-up/install, understand, and program Culligan products to create technical documents
- Able to organize and manage multiple deadlines and priorities efficiently * Ability to open and manipulate 2-D engineering drawings is a plus
