Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead MEP design efforts, mentor junior staff, and help drive the continued growth of our firm. This role requires hands-on HVAC and plumbing design in Revit, strong leadership skills, and a practical understanding of construction. The ideal candidate is collaborative, detail-oriented, and ready to take an active role in project delivery, internal training, and business development.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead HVAC and plumbing system design for a range of building types
  • Manage and mentor a team of at least 3 junior engineers and designers
  • Coordinate with electrical, architectural, and structural teams
  • Perform HVAC load calculations, Title 24 compliance modeling, and system sizing
  • Design domestic water, waste, and vent systems
  • Produce and review coordinated Revit models and construction documents
  • Conduct site visits, field verification, and provide support during construction
  • Communicate clearly with clients, consultants, and internal teams
  • Apply a practical understanding of construction methods and sequencing to improve design outcomes and reduce field conflicts

Required Qualifications:

  • 10 15 years of hands-on, real-world mechanical & plumbing design experience (not just certifications)
  • Expert-level Revit skills and a solid MEP design workflow
  • Excellent communication and team leadership abilities
  • Practical, field-based understanding of how systems are constructed and installed
  • Proven experience in:
  • Large multifamily projects (hundreds of units)
  • Tenant improvements and office renovations
  • Commercial kitchen design
  • Industrial or manufacturing projects
  • High-rise systems and vertical distribution
  • Knowledge of applicable codes (Title 24, ASHRAE, UPC, UMC, CBC)
  • HVAC load calculations and energy compliance modeling
    Nice to Haves:
    • Commercial Design experience (gyms, churches, theaters)
    • Community centers
    • Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
    • California PE license
    • Involvement in professional or industry organizations

    This is an on-site position with no option for remote work.
