- Develop, implement, evaluate, and manage assigned health psychology service programs and activities for appropriate assessment, evaluation, and treatment of patients.
- Provide individual and group treatment, using various evidence-based modalities to include problem focused interventions, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and psychoeducational classes.
- Provide consultation and liaison with interdisciplinary teams, individuals and group psychotherapy, and other clinical duties as assigned in the Health Psychology service line.
- Collaborate and provide consultation to Medical Specialty clinics, and Surgical teams.
- Diagnose mental disorders, conduct psychological, treat mental disorders through a variety of biopsychosocial modalities and provides adjunctive interventions for treatment of medical disorders.
- Provide direct psychological patient care, consultation services on difficult or complex cases, and education of staff and trainee supervision.
- Administer, score, interpret, and document psychodiagnostic screeners and/or tests.
- Knowledge of, and ability to apply, empirically validated treatments (such as cognitive-behavioral, acceptance and commitment, motivational interviewing, systems approaches, brief solution focused approaches, mindfulness groups.
- Plan, develop, implement, and lead therapeutic and educational group programs to address needs specific bariatric and pain populations.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting psychodiagnostic evaluations for pre-transplant and pre-surgery evaluations (i.e. bariatric surgery); providing consultation services to professional staff concerning clinical assessments findings and appropriate treatment plans for patients; and providing treatment to patients of the diabetic and/or bariatric population. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
