
SECURITY OFFICER (TITLE 32)
As a SECURITY OFFICER, GS-0080-13, you will exercise direct supervisory and personnel management responsibilities. Direct, plan, organize, and oversee all Integrated Defense (ID) and Law Enforcement (LE) activities within an Air National Guard Wing as the Defense Force Commander (DFC). Direct, plan, organize, and oversee all Anti-Terrorism (AT) and Force Protection (FP) activities within an Air National Guard Wing as the Anti-Terrorism Officer (ATC). Direct assessments of complex internal and external factors for effect to the organization and assigned missions. Conduct formal and informal assessments to determine criticality of organizational functions, identify vulnerabilities, assess internal and external threats, and calculate associated risk to wing mission(s) and personnel. Perform other duties as required.

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

- Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- The incumbent must have at a minimum, a completed Top Secret clearance.
- May be required to travel by car, in military and/or commercial aircraft, and by other means of transportation as appropriate to perform temporary duty assignments.
- Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive, personal, and/or classified or information covered under privacy act laws in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- Applicant must complete a Baseline Pre-Placement Screening for General Schedule positions within 30 days of appointment.
- Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate Tricare Reserve Select eligibility.
- Must be able to operate all Security Forces Vehicles and installed equipment. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required for the position.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft. This position may be designated mission essential base on local conditions.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
- This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP). The employee is subject to random drug testing. Pre-employment drug testing and random drug testing is a condition of employment.
- Maintain weapons qualifications commensurate with a 31PX series Air Force Specialty Code, and be able to be armed, as required, in the performance of duties.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:Experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk levels. Must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 36 months experience or 1 year at the next lower-level experience or practical understanding of specialized skills, and fundamental knowledge of the Series GS-0800 programs; security police; information security; sensitive compartmental information; special security requirements; force protection; anti-terrorism; information protection; security police training, unit deployment, and physical security. Experience regarding security policies, guiding principles, training requirements and certifications. Extensive knowledge of the laws, rules, regulations and procedures governing a distinct set of operation duties and responsibilities for performing security functions and handling weapons. Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
