Accounting Assistant

The TemPositions Group of Companies has an exceptional opportunity available for an Accounting Assistant within the Finance Division. We are seeking a dedicated individual who will be responsible for monthly bank reconciliation for multiple bank accounts and performing daily, weekly, and monthly accounting functions such as ledger analysis, payroll tax payments, credit card processing, and maintaining wire sheets. The candidate should be able to work independently and as a team player. Founded in 1962, The TemPositions Group of Companies is a privately owned full-service staffing firm with 12 specialty groups and is based in NYC and operating nationwide.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform bank reconciliation to multiple bank accounts, including several major accounts.
  • Perform general ledger account analysis for all several business entities.
  • Verify credit cards transactions for sales and collection teams to ensure accuracy.
  • Reconcile and prepare vouchers for child support and garnishments for several business entities.
  • Process payroll taxes, prepare vouchers, and enter in payable module in Great Plains for several business entities for IRS, NYS, CA, CT and NJ.
  • Assist in entering daily ACH and wire activities on the wire sheet.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
  • Assist with audits and fact-checking when needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.
  • Assist with additional responsibilities as needed to support operational needs.

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience as an Accounting.
  • B.S. Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with accounting software – Great Plains experience helpful but not required.
  • Excellent computer skills including proficient knowledge of MS Office.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize according to needs.
  • Ability to work independently as well as all levels of staff.
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work with diverse personalities in a dynamic and demanding environment.
  • Excellent verbal, communication and writing skills.
  • Extremely polished and professional.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with colleges.
