DataStaff, Inc. is seeking a SQL Data Cleanup Specialist for a long-term contract opportunity with one of our direct clients in Richmond, VA.
*This position is hybrid; 2 days/week will be onsite.
Responsibilities:

  • Assist with cleansing and standardizing data across a large-scale SQL Server database
  • Assist with data cleanup related to the Data Quality Enhancement initiative and other development efforts as needed.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all business data and adhere to data security policies.
  • Analyze and understand the structure and relationships within the database.
  • Write and execute SQL update and insert statements to clean and optimize data.
  • Utilize tools and techniques to automate and expedite the data cleansing process.
  • Collaborate with the data team to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
  • Document the data cleanup process and provide regular progress updates.
  • Special projects at the direction of the Chief Operating Officer or Data Officer.

Education:
Bachelor s degree from a four-year college or university preferred and 5+ years experience with database technology or data organizations required.
Required Skills:

  • 5 Years - Hands-on experience in SQL Server development, writing complex queries, data manipulation statements, stored procedures and tuning
  • 5 Years - Knowledge of indexing, query optimization, transaction handling for efficient data updates
  • 5 Years - Ability to analyze large datasets and pinpoint anomalies or inconsistencies
  • 5 Years - Familiarity with data cleansing tools and techniques
  • 5 Years - Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • 5 Years - Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • 5 Years - Strong communication skills to collaborate with the data team and other business units

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in Pensions Benefit Management programs
  • Experience with data cleansing tools (SQL Server Data Quality Services, Trifacta, Talend, Alteryx, etc.).
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python.
  • Familiarity with ETL and automated data transformation techniques
  • Other relevant certifications in SQL, Data Analysis and database management

This position is available on a corp-to-corp basis or as a W2 position with a competitive benefits package.
