JOB TITLE: Sr. Manager/Director, Retail

REPORTING TO: VP Marketing

DEPARTMENT: Marketing

POSITION OVERVIEW:

New York City FC is seeking a Director/ Sr. Manager of Retail to join the Marketing team. This role will be responsible for leading the retail function at the club, inclusive of current retail operations as well as starting a new retail store at the club’s new stadium opening in Queens in 2027. The Director/ Sr. Manager of Retail will be responsible for delivering on annual revenue targets, managing a complex ecosystem of stakeholders, and delivering an outstanding retail experience to fans. This role will work hand in hand with the Senior Creative Director and Director of Fan Experience and Events.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

· Deliver on the club’s revenue and profit targets by meticulously managing inventory and SKU selection, demand forecasting, pricing and promotional strategy in partnership with the club’s retail operators

· Maintain detailed and organized reports and conduct benchmarking to track performance across retailers/channels vs. budget, make optimizations and provide leadership updates

· Maintain and nurture important stakeholder relationships including in-venue operator Legends, ecom vendor Fanatics, MLS, Adidas, CFG retail team, and 3rd party league licensees (ie OnlyNY, New Era, Mitchell and Ness)

· Manage the relationship with Adidas in collaboration with Creative + Partnerships; scope includes product development, demand forecasting, approval process for kits and training wear, and leading the annual kit launch

· Own retail calendar for product releases, promotions, etc. and communicate proactively with cross-functional team to support

· Manage First Team matchday merch requests (including customization) with support of our in-venue retail operators

· Grow and manage the club’s new NYCFC II ecom business (via Shopify) including inventory management, order fulfillment and advertising

· Spearhead development, outfitting, SKU assortment, promotional strategy, and tech integration of club’s new retail store at the stadium opening in Queens in 2027

· Identify and capitalize on trends in the sports retail landscape

· Proactively seek new opportunities, with other retailers or pop-up stores, in partnership with MLS retail team

WHO YOU ARE:

· A merchandising and retail expert with passion for your field

· Highly organized and detail oriented

· A revenue generating mindset and adept at financial analysis

· Self-motivated, entrepreneurial spirit, ability to work autonomously

· Skilled at building and cultivating relationships, as well as networking

· Ability to deliver on deadline and get projects done quickly, with high standards of quality

· Ability to work flexible hours with expectation of attending every home match and club event where retail is sold

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

· Bachelor's degree

· 7-10 years experience leading a retail team or operation

· Proficient in Word, Excel and Powerpoint

· General knowledge of and passion for soccer a BIG plus

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Ability to lift and move merchandise up to 30 pounds

• Comfortable standing for extended periods during events

· Applicant must be able to comply with MLS Next Safety and Well-Being policy and any other applicable child safety policies provided to applicants by NYCFC

· Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as necessary

COMPENSATION:

This exempt position has an estimated annual base salary range of $75,000-$95,000 and is not overtime eligible. Final compensation offer amounts are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to demonstrated skill set, years and depth of relevant experience, and some role-dependent factors such as certifications and software expertise.
