As a team, we are driven to revolutionize the point-of-care and point-of-need diagnostics industry through the development of an ultra-sensitive, easy-to-use, and robust immunoassay platform.

The R&D team at Burst Diagnostics is seeking a collaborative Research Assistant to join a fast-paced research team focused on developing the next generation of diagnostics. This is a full-time position that reports to the Diagnostic Platform Lead, however we may consider a part-time position for the right candidate. The individual will be part of a multidisciplinary team and will be responsible for a variety of laboratory and bench-top activities including running experiments in collaboration with our team scientists and engineers. The ideal candidate will work well within a team, will be a fast learner, and will have the capacity to quickly adapt to company priorities.

The work will involve immunoassay development, immunoassay optimization, device fabrication, clinical testing, and validation testing and is expected to advance projects towards commercial launch and yield high quality patents and peer-reviewed publications.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other team members to complete milestones and achieve deliverables
  • Work with team scientists to design and interpret experiments
  • Work on multiple projects in parallel
  • Maintain a properly documented and updated laboratory notebook
  • Analyze data, and prepare figures for presentations, scientific reports, and publications
  • Contribute directly to a positive company culture and the team’s success
  • Lab management activities including ordering supplies, performing safety tests, organizing waste removal and in general, ensuring a clean, safe, and organized working environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of wet lab experience in a chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, or other relevant laboratory environment. Experience with basic laboratory techniques such as pipetting, solution preparation, creating buffers, etc. is required.
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability and desire to handle working on multiple projects at once
  • Demonstrated written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills sufficient to properly document data and present at team meetings
  • A strong sense of urgency and the ability to learn quickly
  • Good time management, record keeping and task prioritization skills
  • Prior experience with product development or immunoassays is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with immunoassays desired
  • Prior experience in an analytical development setting highly desirable

Education

BS/MS in Life Sciences, Chemistry, or related discipline

Working conditions

This is an in-office position and will involve work in a wet-lab environment.

Salary

$55,000 - $60,000. This is range for those candidates that meet the minimum requirements and is experience dependent.
