Position Overview

As the Sourcing Quality Analyst, you will contribute to the development and implementation of supplier quality management and food safety strategies to support the company’s growth and performance objectives. Areas of responsibility include co-packer and key supplier quality assurance programs and performance as well as supplier food safety programs.

Function Related Activities/Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritizes and coordinates activities of the supplier quality management program, reviewing key suppliers’ quality performance.
  • Develops supplier material/ product specifications. Initiate and maintain supplier material spec validation program.
  • Champions continuous improvement culture with structured prioritization aligned with business strategies: Establishes and implements process improvements reducing transactional cost, increasing profitability, promoting cross-functional alignment, incorporating standard work instructions, and eliminating waste at all touch points to include policy review and design.
  • Analyzes and implements quality system improvements to improve key supplier product quality as measured by internal scorecards and external customer feedback.
  • Collaborates with the Quality Assurance Manager and other administrative personnel to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions.
  • Directly interacts with functional groups, such as, product development, marketing and sales operations management for R&D activities, on an as needed basis
  • Maintains approved suppliers list, including appropriate rating and quality improvement plans for suppliers.
  • Manages documentation of internal and external compliance audits, SOP review, and training and implementation for quality initiatives.
  • Stays informed of federal / state / industry required activities to ensure compliance across our supplier quality management program.
  • Responsible for roasting green coffee samples and setting up the daily green coffee cuppings
  • May be asked to perform additional duties as requested

Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university in Chemistry, Food Science, Engineering, or Biology preferred.
  • 0-3 years of technical and production experience in Quality Assurance, Food /Beverage Manufacturing, Material Sourcing or related field.
    • Experience with Community Coffee, even if unrelated, may fulfill this requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager with approval from Human Resources.
  • Experience in application of process measurement and evaluation, including basic statistical knowledge, e.g., SPC preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must have or/obtain certification from AIB (American Institute of Baking) in Food Safety and Sanitation, PCQI and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points)
  • Familiar with Quality Assurance, Statistical, and mechanical terminology.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have good level of competency of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
  • Ability to work with database inventory management software and handheld software.
  • Knowledge of SAP is a plus.
