Purpose
The Director of Sales is responsible for the overall development and implementation of the total sales effort for the hotel. The Director of Sales will be responsible for securing new accounts, maintaining existing accounts, supervising activities of sales personnel, and executing sales and marketing strategies to maximize the profitability of the hotel while maintaining customer satisfaction. The Director will also oversee revenue and yield strategies to include group and transient rooms, group food and beverage, meeting room rental, local catering, outlet, and other revenue streams. Formulating and implementing strategies that include market mix, pricing, status, direct sales, marketing, and acquisition status and results, maximizing profitability for the resort and outstanding guest service, market performance and potential performance as well as budget, forecast, and target goals.
Essential Functions
Bachelor’s Degree in Sales/Marketing or related field. Four (4) years hotel sales experience of which at least two (2) years has been at the Director of Sales level or above. Experience in a lifestyle luxury brand or resort hotel preferred.

- Use internal and external resources and data to develop strategic plans to incorporate all business segments.
- Understand sales and business processes, support corporate and hotel goals and contribute to enhancement of customer value.
- Manage all group, transient, and catering/banquet sales activities to maximize revenue for the hotel.
- Identify customer business requirements and create customer offers, which result in increased revenue share for the hotel.
- Respond to sales inquiries from potential clients and customers seeking sleeping rooms, meeting space, food and beverage services, etc.
- Initiate new sales by prospecting, qualifying leads and soliciting potential clients. Monitor achievement of objectives for the sales team and take appropriate action to correct shortfalls versus the annual marketing plan.
- Focus on personal sales efforts to achieve maximum revenue return from key accounts. Focus on achieving annual hotel revenue goals as agreed upon and established in the annual budget.
- Maintain hotel relationships with key accounts to increase customer satisfaction and account revenue. Use professional sales techniques to negotiate the best possible terms and conditions that satisfy customer requirements.
- Articulate and leverage the benefits of the hotel to close sales opportunities.
