Ready Capital is a multi-strategy real estate finance company that originates, acquires, finances, and services small- to medium-sized balance commercial loans. Ready Capital specializes in loans backed by commercial real estate, including agency multifamily, investor, and bridge as well as U.S. Small Business Administration loans under its Section 7(a) program and USDA (B&I) loans under the U.S. Department of Agriculture OneRD Initiative.
Job Description:
Waterfall is looking to hire a Vice President or Director to focus on managing the legal structuring, execution, maintenance, financing, securitization, workout and disposition of commercial real estate investments by Waterfall-managed funds and Ready Capital’s portfolios of commercial real estate and small business loans.
Specific job responsibilities include:
- Working closely with Waterfall’s related business lines (CRE and CMBS) in the management of their respective portfolios of investments.
- Working closely with the capital markets, treasury, loan origination, asset management, accounting, tax and legal functions at Ready Capital in connection with the maintenance of portfolio leverage through warehouse financing and securitization, as well as periodic portfolio acquisitions, dispositions and resolutions.
- Driving deal documentation processes.
- Coordinating internal groups, deal counterparties, external counsel and service providers (e.g., servicers, trustees, custodians and account banks).
- Monitoring relevant regulatory developments.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- J.D. required.
- At least 5 years of experience managing financing/securitization of CRE loans at a top law firm or in-house, preferably at a leading real estate finance company, investment bank or asset manager.
- Extensive knowledge of market practice with respect to contracts governing origination/financing/securitization of CRE loans, and familiarity with related legal, capital and tax structures.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead/manage multiple transactions, prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
- Ability to oversee and effectively manage outside counsel and internal stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, team player with strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with REIT requirements and SBA 7(a) and USDA lending a plus but not required.
