Job Description:

Type: 12-month contract to start

Location: Houston, Texas

Schedule: Hybrid, 2 days onsite and 3 days remote

We are looking for a results oriented, meticulous and experienced data architect to join our team. As a data architect, your responsibility will be to develop, optimize, and oversee the conceptual and logical data systems. You also should know how to review data system requirements as we build our cloud-native solution and implement migration models. You also would need to demonstrate proven experience in data analysis, management, and excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Key Skills:

Current with new technologies and vendor solutions available in the marketplace - especially AWS related services

Expertise in data architecture and design, for both structured and unstructured data

Expertise in data modeling and experience in developing POC's

Expertise with all aspects of data management: data governance, data mastering, meta-data management, data taxonomies and ontologies

Expertise in architecting and delivering highly-scalable and flexible, cost effective, cloud-based enterprise data solutions

Fluent understanding of data security and compliance requirements

Fluency architecting and documenting architecture at multiple levels (high-level to detailed) and across multiple views (conceptual, logical, physical, data flow and sequence diagrams)

Understanding of Solutions Architecture methodology and practices

Ability to translate business requirements into conceptual and detailed technology solutions

Ability to perform third-party vendor assessments

Strong collaboration skills and building effective working relationships

Strong leadership skills

Key Responsibilities:

As a Principal Architect, represent Software Engineering team while defining the strategy, architecture and solutioning for our system as the Architect solutioning the strategy, and architecture for our system

Define and build overall data design and modeling across all of the organizations data systems

Data management across multiple data systems: data governance, data mastering, meta-data management, data definitions, symantec-layer design, data taxonomies and ontologies

Architecting and delivering highly-scalable and flexible, cost-effective enterprise data solutions

Coordinate with collaborator teams and own the conversation to define use cases, goals, objectives, and architecture to support the business needs.

Build system and application architectures to achieve defined business needs

Build relationships with senior leadership.

Engage and evangelize recommendations to senior leadership teams.

Understand the current state of the organization-wide architecture

Identify key business drivers and technology capabilities required to achieve optimal state.

Anticipate future technology requirements and communicate those to the leadership and multi-functional teams.

Work closely with application, infrastructure, security and DevOps teams and act as a liaison between key business, and IT experts

Ensure alignment between business strategies, information technology roadmap, and technical and tactical deployment teams

What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

5+ years of experience in a data architect role including enterprise data architecture models, systems integration, data systems, cloud technology and planning/completing strategic roadmaps

Experience in designing and building applications using AWS (or Azure or Google Cloud Platform) cloud architecture & services and support of highly available and resilient multi-region platforms

Experience in common architecture frameworks such as Microservices, API management including OAuth and Event-driven architecture

Experience communicating across multi-functional teams and senior leadership

Demonstrated experience of taking ownership of intake of business vision and translating the business vision to technical solution and architecture requirements

Clear written and verbal communication skills, sharing information, and leading meetings

Consistent track record of leading execution of architecture vision across multi-functional technical and strategy teams

Demonstrated experience working with PMs, DevOps and software engineers, data architects, application developers & data scientists to plan out end-to-end solutions

Ability to communicate technical and business strategy successfully to audiences of varying levels of experience, background, and seniority.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship

Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification

Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
