Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator Consultant

- Two (2) days remote at a suitable off-site location selected by the Offeror/Offeror Resource(s).The AOC reserves the right to determine an off-site location is not suitable (e.g., crowded public space with distracting background noise during meetings). Three (3) days on site at the Maryland Judiciary Information Systems, 189 Harry S Truman Parkway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
- Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 4:30PM Eastern Standard Time (EDT).
- A two (2) to four (4) week training period will be provided to acclimate the successful resource(s) in the methods, processes, equipment, and software used by the Maryland Judiciary
- Onsite interview 1hour
- Offeror shall propose resource(s) for which they have the right to represent. If multiple Offerors propose the same resource(s), the AOC reserves the right to make such investigations, as it deems necessary, to confirm the representation of any proposed resource(s), and reject any Offeror's proposed resource(s). After any investigations, if the AOC is unable to confirm the representation of any proposed resource(s), including a proposed resource who signed multiple Attachment O Resource Acknowledgments, the AOC reserves the right to reject the proposed resource(s) from all applicable Offerors.
Project Scope:
The AOC is seeking proposals from prospective Offerors to provide one (1) Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator consultant. The Senior Red Hat Linux Administrator will manage and optimize AOC's Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments. The resource will be responsible for ensuring system stability, security, and performance while supporting a range of enterprise applications. This role requires advanced expertise in Linux administration, automation, troubleshooting, and security best practices.
Roles/Responsibilities:
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers across development, testing, and production environments.
- Performing system upgrades, patch management, and security hardening to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime and optimize efficiency.
- Implementing automation scripts using Ansible, Bash, or Python to streamline system administration tasks.
- Configuring and maintaining Red Hat Satellite, Identity Management (IdM), and other Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) ecosystem tools.
- Collaborating with security teams to ensure systems are protected against vulnerabilities and comply with security policies.
- Maintaining and optimizing storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Supporting application teams by providing guidance on best practices for Linux-based deployments.
- Maintaining documentation for system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Participating in on-call support and incident resolution activities as required.
- Setup Network File Server (NFS) and mount points.
- Configuring Chron jobs for both systems and applications.
Mandatory Skills:
- Bachelor's degree, or postgraduate degree, in engineering, computer science, or related field (as determined by the AOC).
- Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator.
- Certification must be issued by Red Hat and include the resource's valid certification number.
Desirable Skills:
- Ten (10) or more years of experience as a Red Hat system administrator.
- Ten (10) or more years of experience administering Unix (AIX) IBM pSeries systems.
- Fifteen (15) or more years of experience in the Information Technology (IT) field.
- Working in a complex networked system environment with strong networking.
- Administering Unix (AIX) IBM pSeries systems.
- Administering systems include, but not limited to, the applications below:
- Oracle WebLogic Servers
- Oracle Database Servers
- Progress 4GL/Database Servers/OpenEdge
- Apache Web Servers
- vSphere hosted RHEL Servers.
- Rubrik backup systems.
- Oracle Database backups.
- PeopleSoft
- Mobius
- Elastic Search
- Oracle OBI
- CVS (Concurrent Version System)
- Red Hat performance tuning.
- Load balancing, partitioning, back-up/recovery, and disaster recovery.
