About the company:
We are a pioneering SaaS startup in the mortgage software industry, based in Santa Clara, committed to transforming the mortgage experience for consumers, brokers, and lenders alike through cutting‑edge AI solutions. With a product that stands out in the market for its clear differentiation and superiority, we pride ourselves on delivering significant improvements in efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction. Despite our small size, our culture is one of our greatest strengths—nurturing, innovative, and results driven, with a focus on achieving high‑impact outcomes. As we continue to shape the future of mortgage technology, we are looking for a talented AI Engineer Intern to join our close‑knit team.
Role Summary:
As an AI Engineer Intern, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and deploying machine learning and deep learning solutions that power our mortgage SaaS platform. You will work across the entire AI lifecycle—from data collection and preprocessing to model training, evaluation, and production deployment, collaborating closely with data engineers, software engineers, and product managers in a dynamic startup environment.
Key Responsibilities:
AI & ML Model Development: Assist in building, fine‑tuning LLM and AI Agents(e.g., LLM pipelines, multi-agent systems, OCR modules).
Data Preparation & Feature Engineering: Cleanse, label, and transform raw mortgage and customer data; engineer robust features to feed into models.
Information Retrieval & RAG: Implement and maintain retrieval‑augmented generation workflows, vector stores (e.g., pgvector, FAISS), and semantic search for document‑based Q&A.
Model Evaluation & Testing: Design and execute validation protocols—cross‑validation, A/B tests, performance benchmarks—to ensure model accuracy, fairness, and reliability.
Infrastructure & Deployment: Collaborate with DevOps to containerize AI components using Docker and deploy models to cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure); monitor model performance and latency in production.
Research & Innovation: Stay up to date with state‑of‑the‑art AI research, evaluate new frameworks and libraries (e.g., Hugging Face Transformers, LangChain), and prototype novel approaches.
Documentation & Collaboration: Maintain clear documentation of AI pipelines, experiments, and system architectures; communicate findings and recommendations to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Ideal Candidate:
Education: Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field.
Technical Skills:
· Experience with RAG systems, LangChain, vector databases (pgvector, FAISS), or AI agent frameworks is a plus.
· Familiarity with NLP libraries (e.g., Hugging Face Transformers) and vector‑search tools.
· Solid foundation in data manipulation (Pandas, NumPy) and SQL for data exploration.
· Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker).
· Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and model monitoring best practices.
Problem‑Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to break down complex problems, design experiments, and iterate rapidly.
Communication & Teamwork: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proactive collaborator in a cross‑functional team.
Adaptability & Ownership: Comfortable in a fast‑paced startup environment; takes initiative and ownership of projects from conception to completion.
Why Join Us?
Impact: Contribute to AI features that will redefine mortgage workflows and improve outcomes for millions of users.
Culture: Be part of a supportive, innovative team that values creativity, collaboration, and well‑being.
Growth: Gain hands‑on mentorship from senior AI engineers and data scientists, with opportunities to lead your own projects.
Innovation: Work on bleeding‑edge AI models and architectures in a domain ripe for transformation.
Location: Join us at our Santa Clara headquarters or collaborate remotely with regular on‑site engagements.
If you’re passionate about applying AI to solve real‑world challenges and eager to accelerate your career in a high‑impact role, we’d love to hear from you.
