Physician (Administration)
- Performs a wide range of special projects for the OQ Director. Researches and analyzes the most difficult, complex, and critical issues to provide advice, recommendations, and options to the OQ Director.
- Interfaces with the Area Chief Medical Officers, relevant IHS national councils and committees,
interagency committees and workgroup, federal agencies, and national organizations to support the goal and objectives of the OQ and IHS. - Use best medical approach for building positive data or counteracting adverse publicity. Map unmet needs and draft plans with partner organizations for filling service gaps. Researches medical trends, experiences and approaches to develop proposals to meet agency and OQ goals and objectives.
- Provides expert guidance and support in patient safety to the infection control program and the patient safety program, including incident reporting, root cause analyses, sentinel event reporting, failure mode analyses, systems design, failure modes and effects analysis, and proactive staff training and education.
- Provides guidance and support to all aspects of the quality program, including quality measurement, external reporting, quality improvement, and high reliability.

For purposes of this standard, graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada. Descriptions of such programs are described below.
- An internship program involves broadly based clinical practice in which physicians acquire experience in treating a variety of medical problems under supervision (e.g., internal medicine, surgery, general practice, obstetrics-gynecology, and pediatrics). Such programs are in hospitals or other institutions accredited for internship training by a recognized body of the .
- A residency program involves training in a specialized field of medicine in a hospital or an institution accredited for training in the specialty by a recognized body of the or .

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
