FUEL DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS MECHANIC
- You will maintain and repair fuel storage and distribution systems, using hand and power tools and testing instruments.
- You will inspect fuel receiving, storage, and distribution facilities to detect and correct leakage, corrosion, faulty fittings, and malfunction of mechanical units, meters, and gauges.
- You will perform test work on fuel pumping, filtering and hardware systems for RDT and E product tests and examine pumping systems for leaks and repairs.
- You will receive, store, transfer and issue liquid petroleum fuels, lubes, liquid and waste oils.
- You will operate and maintain various types of pumps and other equipment used in the receipt and issue of bulk petroleum products.
- You will inspect receipt of product for quantity and type, water and other visible contamination.

- Utilizing mechanical and electro-mechanical principles and a working knowledge of electrical controls and devices to repair and maintain fuel distribution systems and their components to perform work which includes inspecting fuel receiving, storage, and distribution facilities to detect and correct leakage, corrosion, faulty fittings, malfunction of mechanical units, meters, and gauges; Inspecting and troubleshooting electrical wiring, switches, and controls;
- Troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, and replacing defective equipment and components, (e.g., motors, relays, solenoids, switches, safety devices), and other similar devices;
- Lubricating and repacking valves, pumps; replacing gaskets and seals; correcting misalignment of pumping equipment; disassembling, adjusting, and calibrating meters, and gauges; replacing meters and gauges;
- Reading and working from blueprints; maintaining records of inspections and repairs; overhauling system components; performing test work on fuel pumping, filtering, and hardware systems; receiving, storing, and transferring liquid petroleum fuels, lubes, liquid and waste oils.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
