  • Supervises assigned personnel, establishes and approves work schedules, assigns work, trains and counsels employees, approves/disapproves leave, recommends commendatory/disciplinary actions and resolves employee problems.
  • Performs administrative work directing the operations of an assigned school cafeteria which ensures compliance with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and other federal, state and local rules and regulations.
  • Provides ongoing evaluation of program operations to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate production records, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) records, and mandatory federal and state reports to ensure accountability.
  • Oversees the preparation and service of nutritious, appealing, high quality meals.
  • Assures that food, supplies and equipment are adequate.
  • Assures that an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all products are maintained and that all food, supplies and equipment are received and stored according to guidelines.
  • Lifts and carries objects up to 45 lbs independently and objects over 45 lbs with assistance.

  • Basic skills in business administration, scheduling, accounting, policies and performance standards.
  • Skill to clearly communicate general and specific instructions to workers.
  • Knowledge and skill to evaluate a variety of raw and cooked food items.
  • Knowledge of food spoilage, food borne illness and food safety. Skill to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Skill to supervise employees in the accomplishment of work.
  • Must be able to successfully complete and maintain a proper food safety/sanitation certification.
