
ASSISTANT CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER DIRECTOR
- Assists the Child Development Center Director in the daily operations of the Child Development Center.
- Assists in the administration and evaluation of ongoing programs of individual and group developmental and educational activities for staff implementation and execution.
- Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
- Provides assistance in the management of funds and resources to include developing the annual NAF and APF budgets, which includes submission and prioritization of program component requirements.
- Assists the director in the administration of the USDA nutrition/food program.

Qualifications
Basic Requirement for GS-1701 Child Development Director and Assistant Director Positions: A Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) that included or was supplemented by major study in child development, early childhood education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education, or other fields appropriate to the position to be filled. Combination of Education and Experience: courses equivalent to a major in child development, early childhood education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above. NOTE: You MUST submit a copy of transcripts.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience at the GS-09 (or higher) grade level or equivalent in other pay systems (may have been obtained in the military, public or private sectors). Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply laws and regulations governing child care to include regulatory requirements, policies and practices. Knowledge of financial, budget, resource management practices and principles, and analytical and evaluative methods and techniques. Knowledge of the USDA food program requirements. Skill in educating, counseling and advising child care providers and parents; assessing training and children's developmental needs. Skill in conducting regular and periodic audits, studies, and inspections, evaluating the results, determining the feasibility of necessary improvements and coordinating corrective action.

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in--grade requirements to be considered eligible.
