About GovNavigators
GovNavigators is a strategic consulting firm that helps mission-driven organizations navigate the complexity of government. We bring decades of experience working across the executive branch, Capitol Hill, and beyond to help our clients shape policy, build influence, and drive meaningful impact in the public sector. Our team works at the intersection of strategy, communications, and policy, advising clients on everything from government management trends to public affairs campaigns to positioning in the federal marketplace. We’re a small but mighty team that values curiosity, clarity, and making government work better—for our clients and for the public.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented graduate or undergraduate student to join our team as a Public Policy & Communications Intern. This is a hands-on opportunity to work directly with the firm’s founders across a wide range of public policy and government management functions — from attending policy events to helping shape federal policy conversations. No two days will look the same.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct policy research and draft memos, talking points, and briefing documents.
- Assist with event planning and on-site support for industry roundtables, webinars, and convenings.
- Support the development of GovNavigators’ newsletter and podcast, including editing audio and contributing to scriptwriting.
- Draft social media posts, op-eds, and thought leadership content.
- Design basic graphics and presentation materials (experience with Canva, PowerPoint, or similar tools a plus).
- Support administrative and operational tasks to keep client engagements running smoothly.
- Monitor federal policy news and summarize key updates for internal distribution.
- Other duties as assigned.
Who You Are:
- A current graduate or undergraduate student studying public policy, government, communications, or a related field.
- An excellent writer and editor with a strong attention to detail.
- Curious about how federal policy is made — and how private and nonprofit actors shape it.
- Comfortable juggling multiple priorities and working independently.
- Creative, resourceful, and not afraid to raise your hand or ask questions.
- Experience with podcast editing (GarageBand) or basic design tools (Canva, Adobe Express) is a bonus.
Details:
- Start date: May 2025 (flexible based on your availability)
- Location: Hybrid working schedule based in the Washington, D.C. area so candidates can attend events in-person.
- Hours: 30 hours per week, flexible scheduling
- Compensation: $18/hour
