In pursuit of this mission, we are looking to hire a Senior Director of Student Success. The Senior Director of Student Success is a visionary instructional leader responsible for advancing academic excellence and equity across all learning environments in the Lansing School District. Reporting to the Deputy Superintendent of Schools, this role provides direct leadership and strategic oversight of the district’s Instructional Division, including supervision of K–12 Instructional Directors, the Director of Continuous Improvement, Alternative Education, Capital Area Online School, and Magnet Programming. The Senior Director will champion coherence, innovation, and continuous improvement to ensure that every student is supported and challenged across traditional, alternative, online, and magnet pathways.

Qualifications - Education & Certification
- Valid Michigan School Administrator Certificate (or equivalent)
- Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of successful school-level leadership experience
- Minimum of 3 years in a central office leadership role
- Proven success improving student outcomes and closing achievement gaps
- Experience with alternative, online, or magnet school programming preferred
- Demonstrated experience managing general operating and grant-funded budgets, including compliance and reporting
- Deep expertise in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and data-informed decision-making
- Ability to lead through collaboration, systems thinking, and coaching
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Capacity to evaluate program effectiveness and Return on Investment (ROI)
- Commitment to high expectations and equity for all students
- Provide strategic leadership and direct supervision to Instructional Directors, the Director of Continuous Improvement, and leaders of Alternative, Online, and Magnet Programs
- Ensure instructional coherence across content areas, grade levels, and learning models
- Drive continuous improvement efforts using evidence-based practices and progress monitoring
- Oversee alignment of instructional programs with district standards and graduation pathways
- Analyze instructional and programmatic data to inform strategic decisions and improve outcomes
- Evaluate the impact and effectiveness of programs, ensuring alignment with district goals and responsible fiscal stewardship
- Manage general and grant-funded budgets with transparency and compliance
- Coach and develop instructional leaders through targeted feedback and professional learning
- Collaborate with district leadership to ensure aligned systems of support across school models
- Build strong school and community partnerships to expand student opportunities and success
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Must be able to move throughout the building and campus, including classrooms, hallways, and outdoor spaces. Frequent verbal communication is required to instruct students, lead meetings, and collaborate with staff and families. May be required to stand or walk for extended periods, including during supervisory duties. Occasional bending, reaching, or sitting on the floor to interact with students. Regular use of computers and instructional technology for planning, instruction, and communication. Must be able to lift or carry instructional materials and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.
