Position Summary

Steel Forgings Inc. (SFI) is a leading manufacturer of custom butt weld fittings that has been servicing the oil and gas industry for over 70 years. The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician will perform hands-on machinery maintenance and work with a team of maintenance technicians responsible for machine and equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and facilities upkeep in a manufacturing plant located in the Shreveport/Bossier City, LA., area.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform senior level mechanical and electrical repairs on production equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures effectively and efficiently.
  • Read and understand mechanical drawings and hydraulic/electric schematics
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and blueprints.
  • Perform root cause analysis on mechanical and electrical equipment failures
  • Ensure operation of all machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on production machines, motors, equipment, and tools
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs with plant supervisors.
  • Communicate plant equipment repair/operational status to maintenance manager
  • Safely operate tools and equipment needed during the repair and servicing of equipment

Experience:

  • 5-10+ years of machinery maintenance and electrical experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical, industrial, hydraulic, and pneumatic skills
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Failure analysis and troubleshooting skills for manufacturing and facility equipment
  • Ability to work from blueprints/drawings
  • Must have knowledge of single and three phase electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems, including air compressors
  • Organizational skills to facilitate parts management, equipment files, and time management
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent movement including walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, climbing and other active movements
  • Able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Performing duties while wearing personal protective equipment
  • Working in temperature zones that may include hot environments for extended periods and may include work in environments where dust is present
