Field Exercise System Engineer

Location: Hybrid in Aberdeen, MD

Contract: Six month contract to hire

Pay Rate: $53/hr, $110k conversion salary

The Opportunity:

Research & Development (R&D) is the lifeblood of innovation and progress. Successfully transitioning R&D products from the controlled environment of the lab to dynamic field exercises is crucial for validating their real-world applicability and performance. This process helps our client ensure that groundbreaking technologies are not only theoretically sound but also practically viable, paving the way for their deployment on mission.

The Field Exercise System Engineer will support a small team to perform the planning and execution of field tests and mission exercises to evaluate Electronic Warfare (EW) and Cyber R&D products. This role will support integration of multiple EW and Cyber software and hardware systems to achieve the exercise objectives. Example tasks may include software API design and integration, security boundary definition, tactical network connection, data storage design, requirements derivation, and design of exercise scenarios that accurately reflect real-world conditions and operational challenges. During an exercise, example tasks may include field or exercise logistics, site survey, site preparation, equipment setup, participant coordination, and data analysis to provide feedback to R&D teams to refine and improve product performance.

You Have:
  • Experience developing and maintaining system integration documentation including OV-1, sequence diagrams, or interface control documents
  • Experience performing software integration of mission planning and execution systems
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
  • HS diploma or GED

Nice If You Have:
  • 3+ years of experience supporting EW and Cyber missions or development activities
  • Experience developing Electronic Warfare (EW) or Cyber scenarios or Master Scenario Event Lists (MSELs) for DoD exercises
  • Experience managing field or exercise logistics
  • Experience with tactical communication networks
  • Experience with spectrum management and frequency request process
  • Knowledge of radio communication protocols
  • Knowledge of Radio Frequency (RF) propagation, amplifiers, and antennas
  • Bachelors degree in Systems Engineering or a related field
