Hiring Salary Range: $100,000 - $110,000 (2 openings)
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Term: This is a one year term position, ending in June 2026
Organizational Relationships: This position will report to the Lead for Workforce Systems Coordination and partner closely with the Executive Director(s) of their assigned agencies.
Expected Annual Travel: Minimal
Summary of Functions: The Special Workforce Systems Advisor will support the execution of the Governor’s vision to advance the “ Big Blur ” across the post-secondary system. This position will develop an understanding of their assigned agency’s legislative responsibilities and how they are operationalized, participate in an interagency working group, support the development of working group recommendations, and strengthen coordination and data sharing across workforce agencies.

- Facilitating discussion regarding assigned agency program(s) alongside agency leadership at interagency task force meetings, ensuring effective representation of department programs and interests.
- Partnering with the Lead for Workforce Systems Coordination to design implementation plans to realize interagency working group recommendations.
- Ensuring effective delivery of working group implementation plans.
- Supporting any necessary short-term change management within their assigned agency(s).
- Collaborate with the Lead for Workforce Systems Coordination to elevate department concerns to Governor’s Office leadership.
- Uses word processing, spreadsheet, database, and scheduling software applications to prepare correspondence, plans, reports, schedules, and other documents related to projects.
- Represents the Governor's Office and regularly interacts with Departmental Executive Staff.
- Other duties as requested and required.
Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights
- Six years of experience in related fields. Related fields may include other workforce development-focused roles in public service, academia, or the private sector. Years of postsecondary education can be substituted 1:1 with this experience requirement, particularly if focused on the fields of political science, public administration, or business administration.
The incumbent in this role will contribute to strengthening the coordination of workforce activities across post-secondary opportunities throughout the executive branch by demonstrating the following attributes:
- A skilled project leader, who has a demonstrated ability to mobilize and motivate teams around shared goals.
- Strong analytical skills, with a sound understanding of statistics and the ability to identify and use data to inform decisions and to make recommendations.
- Strong organizational skills, and self-motivation to follow up on projects, information, and issues until resolved.
- Empathetic and creative problem solver able to listen, understand, and lead various decision-makers at all levels of state government in an emotionally intelligent manner.
- 8+ years of prior professional experience in related fields
- Previous experience in Colorado State government or a related sector.
- Familiarity with the Colorado post-secondary education system.
- Experience leading complex projects in the public sector, with positive results.
