A Day In The Life Of a Documentation Specialist

  • Collecting medical information from healthcare providers and updating patient medical records.
  • Verifying the accuracy of patient medical information and obtaining missing information.
  • Monitoring diagnoses, treatments, and follow up entries in medical records.
  • Interpreting and assessing medical records and documents to ensure compliance with federal and state healthcare benefit laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Ensuring the content and storage of medical documents comply with federal laws and accreditation standards.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of clinical documentation recordkeeping procedures.
  • Maintenance and filing of all appropriate client, regulatory, etc. records.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures regarding employment, safety and compliance and report to any concerns of non-compliance in any area to your manager immediately.
  • All other responsibilities as assigned by Director of Client Intake & Reorder Services or other Executive Management.

Education/Experience/Knowledge Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent in business or office administration
  • 2+ years of related work experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Prefer experience in sales, sales support, and related product offerings
  • Track record of achievement based on previous performance, awards, evaluations, etc.

Physical Requirements

  • In an 8 hour day the employee lifts/carries 10 LBS rarely.
  • In an 8 hour day the employee stands/walks 1 hour.
  • In an 8 hour day the employee sits 7+ hours.
  • In an 8 hour day the employee drives a vehicle rarely.

Travel Requirements

Percentage of travel expected to be 5% or less on an annual basis

A Day In The Life Of a Documentation Specialist
