Piper Companies is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Tax Manager to join a well-established biotechnology organization specializing in the development of novel pharmaceutical therapies in the Silver Spring, MD area. The Tax Manager will be responsible for overseeing federal, state, and local tax compliance, planning, and reporting initiatives. *This is a hybrid position
Responsibilities of the Tax Manager:
Lead various projects and provide strategic insights while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
Provide oversight on various federal and state income and indirect tax compliance and planning projects
Responsible for managing all aspects of the organization's global indirect tax compliance and planning such as personal property tax
Assist with the preparation and review of annual income tax provision calculations and financial disclosures
Oversee sales tax exemption certificate process
Develop and implement tax strategies to reduce tax liability and support company's business objectives
Prepare and present reports on tax performance, risks, and opportunities to senior-level management
Qualifications of the Tax Manager:
5+ years of experience working in tax related field, directly involved with state and local income and indirect tax
Experience working in a large, multi-national corporation following SEC reporting
Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws, including ASC 740.
Experience with SAP
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
Compensation of the Tax Manager:
Salary: Between $130,000 - $160,000 annually based on years of relevant experience
