Our client is looking for an experienced Cost Estimator who will be responsible for developing accurate cost estimates for various building construction projects within their organization. This role involves analyzing project plans, materials, labor, and other factors to ensure accurate projections of total project costs. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with different teams to deliver precise cost estimates that align with project goals and budgets.
Cost Estimator Responsibilities & Duties:
- Analyze blueprints and project plans to identify project cost components
- Develop comprehensive cost estimates based on material, labor, and other expenses
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to gather essential project details
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses to optimize project budget allocations
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations on cost estimates for stakeholders
- Review and update costs estimates as project conditions change
- Conduct market research to stay informed about current material and labor costs
- Assist in the preparation of project bids and proposals
- Maintain documentation of all cost estimation activities and data
- Monitor project expenditures to ensure alignment with cost estimates
Cost Estimator Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Proven experience in cost estimation for engineering or construction projects
- Must be familiar with quantity takeoff techniques from Architectural, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Piping (Plumbing) drawing sets
- Proficiency in cost estimation software and tools
- Strong understanding of financial and accounting principles related to project costs
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
- Certification from recognized professional bodies such as AACE, PMI, or similar
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in cost estimating or a related role
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
