Reporting to the Sr Account Director, the Account Director acts as an experienced brand sponsorship and partnership leader who can build and execute strategic, cross-functional, envelope pushing, partnership marketing programs based on the client’s business objectives. This role will focus primarily on the development and day-to-day execution of NBA and WNBA partnership activation programs. You will serve as a key account/partnership lead for the client, properties, internal, and cross-functional agency partners.
You’d be part of a team that delivers sports partnership expertise to GMR’s Comcast/Xfinity clients. This includes marketing platform development, asset planning (e.g., IP, funds), campaign planning/integration, adjacent content/media partnerships, talent and influencers, hospitality, etc. We immerse ourselves in our client’s brand and work together with cross-functional partners to deliver elevated partnership solutions on these areas and more, working across partnership functions of strategy, negotiation, activation, and measurement.
To thrive in this position, you should have experience in sports marketing and client management, specifically involving national sports partnerships with the NBA or WNBA. You enjoy collaborating with sports properties and media to develop integrated partnership strategies. Additionally, you have proven leadership skills, a strong work ethic, and initiative.

Required Skills
- Strategic Planning. You have a track record of developing partnership strategy and activation plans and will lead the planning of all partnership launch and onboarding activities. This could entail creating and sharing tracking systems to manage timelines, budgets, client requests, and deliverables along with managing approvals with the client and property in a timely manner.
- Client Management. You have maintained effective relationships with clients and feel comfortable providing them with recommendations and updates. You'll utilize your strong client communication skills by leading status calls, sending post-event recaps, educating clients on their use of sponsorship assets, and offering recommendations to drive more value from their partnerships.
- Leadership. You have experience managing teams, which can include junior staff, vendors, agency peers, internal teams and / or clients and onsite staffing. You will have one direct report in this role but will provide guidance to many.
- Collaboration. You are confident in collaborating with many agency partners, both internal and external, and negotiating complementary partnerships with talent or media. You have experience of creating and delivering recommendations and presentations to clients, properties and stakeholders frequently. You can lead multiple teams in the development of innovative partnership strategy & activation plans. This could include proposing plans to recommend complementary partnerships, including media, talent, influencer content, and culture to create a holistic and immersive brand experience.
- Communication. You pride yourself on your relationship building skills as you will serve as client- and property-facing leader and point-of-contact for NBA and WNBA partnerships, building relationships with internal and external partners.
- Travel. You are open to work-related travel for up to 20% of this role. This could include weekends and would entail traveling to larger events or client meetings.
