This strategic leadership role requires a blend of deep technical knowledge, industry insight, and proven sales management skills. The VP will be responsible for developing and executing sales strategies, managing sales engineering teams, driving revenue growth, expanding market share, and maintaining strong client relationships across sectors such as industrial, energy and other target markets. The VP will collaborate with senior regional and global leadership to ensure alignment between sales strategies and organizational goals, ensuring DESMI grows its market leadership in the fluid technology space.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute sales strategies to expand DESMI’s presence within the OEM market.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with OEM customers, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions.
  • Identify, engage, and develop relationships with system integrators across target industries.
  • Provide technical expertise, application support, and training to integrators to ensure seamless implementation.
  • In coordination with the Americas region president and the global industry sales vertical leader, develop and implement industry-specific sales strategies aligned with DESMI’s global objectives to drive significant revenue growth and market share in key industries, including industrial, energy, and other high potential markets.
  • Develop a strong channel partnership focus and program for North America
  • Conduct comprehensive market analyses to identify new business opportunities, emerging market trends, and areas for expansion. Translate these insights into actionable sales strategies.
  • As a member of the Americas leadership team, collaborate with operations, sales leaders, marketing, and engineering to ensure that DESMI’s sales and strategies and goals are in sync with overall company objectives and capabilities.
  • Lead and manage a high-performing sales engineering team. Provide mentorship, training and performance evaluations to ensure the team meets its targets and maintains high standards of technical knowledge and customer service.
  • Manage and allocate resources effectively, ensuring that sales engineers are equipped to support the company’s objectives in each region and industry.
  • Build a collaborative, results-driven culture that encourages innovation, continuous improvement, and exceptional customer service within the sales engineering team.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key customers, partners and stakeholders. Serve as a senior point of contact for high-value accounts and strategic partnerships.
  • Leverage technical expertise to provide tailored solutions that address customer pain points and operational challenges, helping customers optimize their systems and processes.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities by engaging with key prospects and partners in targeted industries to drive pipeline growth.
  • Oversee the management of key accounts, ensuring that customer needs are met, and projects are delivered successfully.
  • Collect feedback from customers and sales teams to drive continuous improvement in products and services, ensuring DESMI’s offerings remain competitive and cutting-edge.
  • Prepare accurate sales forecasts and progress reports for executive team, providing insight into sales performance, pipeline health, and revenue generation activities.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for the sales engineering team to measure progress and success and make data-driven adjustments as needed to achieve sales targets.
  • Oversee and participate in high-value contract negotiations with customers, ensuring that terms are favourable for both parties while maintaining long-term business relationships.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies to ensure that DESMI remains at the forefront of innovation in pumping and fluid handling technologies.

Essential Education, Skills and experience (Required):

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in service engineering, particularly with pumps, fluid handling systems or industrial machinery.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in technical sales of which at least five years of technical sales leadership ideally within the industrial, energy, or similar industries.
  • Experience in managing a high-performing sales team and delivering significant revenue growth.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, evaluate sales performance, and create actionable strategies for improvement.
  • Experience in setting and managing sales KPIs, budgets, and long-term strategic planning.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to carry or lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 pounds) relative to sales materials, demonstration products, or samples.
  • Must wear PPE when visiting industrial or manufacturing sites in accordance with DESMI and customer safety protocols.

Travel Requirements:

  • Domestic and international travel to meet clients, 30-60% expected.
