Summary
Operating under the general direction of the Enterprise Operations Manager, the Senior Systems Administrator oversees critical aspects of the district s technology infrastructure, ensuring secure and efficient operations. This role includes advanced system engineering, project management, and mentorship, leveraging in-depth knowledge of the district s environment gained through extensive experience. This role leads initiatives to optimize and innovate the district s technology ecosystem.

Job Responsibility Description
  • Advanced System Engineering
    • Design, implement, and maintain complex IT systems, including servers, storage solutions, and cloud platforms, to align with district goals and operational needs.
    • Develop, enforce, and document standards for system configurations and procedures to ensure high availability, reliability, and performance.
    • Lead the implementation of advanced security protocols, conducting risk assessments and ensuring compliance with district and industry standards.
    • Oversee hardware replacement and upgrades to maintain optimal performance and reliability across diverse systems.
    • Ensure seamless integration and functionality across multiple operating systems (OS) configurations, including Windows, Linux, Unix, and VMware environments.
  • Hardware Replacement and Upgrades
    • Perform hardware replacement and upgrades across various systems, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance.
    • Manage and maintain diverse operating system configurations, such as Windows, Linux, Unix, and VMware environments.
    • Install and configure servers, hardware, peripherals, services, directories, storage, and other systems to meet district requirements.
    • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures, ensuring systems adhere to standards and best practices.
    • Perform system updates, including operating system patches, software upgrades, and configuration changes to support infrastructure and operational needs.
  • System Monitoring and Advanced Troubleshooting:
    • Resolve escalated technical issues promptly using advanced troubleshooting techniques.
    • Conduct daily system monitoring to verify the integrity and availability of hardware, software, and network resources.
    • Analyze system logs and performance data to identify and resolve bottlenecks, failures and other operational challenges.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve multi-platform issues that impact system performance and operations.
  • Cybersecurity Management:
    • Develop, manage, and execute a comprehensive cybersecurity framework to protect district systems and data.
    • Implement and oversee security measures, including regular risk assessments, compliance monitoring, and incident response plans.
    • Perform regular security monitoring to identify, address, and mitigate potential vulnerabilities or intrusion attempts.
  • Documentation and Disaster Recovery:
    • Lead the development, coordination, and execution of disaster recovery plans, ensuring alignment with district objectives and best practices.
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders to implement and test disaster recovery strategies, ensuring readiness for unexpected disruptions.
    • Maintain comprehensive documentation of the district s technology environment, serving as a resource for team members and stakeholders.
    • Recommend and implement innovative, automated solutions to improve operational efficiency, system performance, and cost-effectiveness.
    • Assist in creating and refining standard operating procedures (SOPs) to standardize and enhance system administration tasks.
  • Project Management and Leadership:
    • Manage and oversee technology projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with district objectives.
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to plan, design, and execute complex projects, driving innovation and operational improvement.
    • Assist in implementing and improving systems that support instructional and operational goals.
    • Manage user accounts and permissions across platforms, such as Active Directory and Google Workspace, ensuring efficient and secure operations.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on technology initiatives, ensuring solutions meet instructional and operational needs.
    • Mentor Systems Administrators and other team members, providing technical guidance, training, and fostering professional growth.

Education and Experience
Acceptable demonstration of acceptable education and/or experience will be at the sole discretion of the District.

  • Minimum of Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science, Business Management or other related field
  • Minimum three years experience installing and/or administration of telecommunications, microcomputers, data cabling and large information systems hardware and software required in an enterprise level setting
  • Minimum of three year s experience in cloud-based solutions including G-Suite and similar cloud-based platforms
  • Familiarity with agile project management methodologies, including Scrum, is a plus.


Licenses, Registrations or Certifications

  • Criminal Background Check required for hire
  • Valid Colorado driver s license or identification required
  • Preference given to CompTIA Server+
  • Preference given to Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • Preference given to Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
  • Preference given to VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV)
  • Preference given to Amazon Web Services (AWS) Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate

  • Operating expertise and knowledge of switches, routers, hubs, servers, cables, racks, firewalls, Local Area Networks; Wide Area Networks, Transmission Controls & Internet Protocols, Domain Naming Systems, User datagram Protocols, latency, Voice Over Internet Protocols, and Quality of Service (QoS), within 90 days of hire
