Role: Manual Testing Assurance

Location:Lansing, MI ( Onsite from day 1, two days a week (Tuesdays and Wednesdays are required onsite days).

Duration: 12+ Months contract

This is a manual quality assurance position. The Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst is responsible for ensuring the developed solution meets the business requirements, is free of defects, and the quality of the product/application is achieved. The QA Analyst works independently to identify and define the required tests as well as capture detailed testing progress, defects, and results during each testing cycle and evaluates the overall usability of the IT solution.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for understanding project scope and working with the Business Analyst to ensure adherence to the objectives set for the project.
  • Responsible for adhering to the project schedule by developing test cases and completing Quality Assurance Testing (QAT) in accordance with the schedule.
  • Responsible for working with User Acceptance Test (UAT) testers and conducting UAT training sessions along with Business and Product Owners.
  • Responsible for appropriate resolution of critical IT issues as it pertains to the QA role.
  • Ensures all QA responsible SEM documents identified for the project are completed, reviewed, and approved in alignment with area processes.
  • Participates in the requirement meetings and functional design document review meetings to understand the requirements.
  • Works closely with Business Analyst and Business/Product Owner to clarify requirements.
  • Prepares test data and ensures the QA environment is ready for test case execution, including interfaces.
  • Responsible for defect management including identification of QAT defects and remediation tracking by maintaining the traceability to user story.
  • Responsible for working with the Product Owner to set defect severity and assist with backlog prioritization throughout the project.
  • Responsible for facilitating defect triage meetings as necessary.
  • Works directly with Tech Leads and Developers to ensure understanding of defects are clear and understood.
  • Works with UI/UX Designer to assist with adding defects and providing input for usability, as necessary.
  • Works closely with QA Specialist on complex projects and on unique deliverables for the projects.
  • Provides information and analysis for Go/No Go project decisions.

Experience and Skillset required:

  • 3 to 5 years of manual testing experience.
  • Experience working in both Waterfall and Agile project teams.
  • Certification in Quality Assurance testing or 24 semester hours in IT coursework.
  • Good verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to analyze, identify problems and defects in software applications.
  • Thorough understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
