Position Summary

The Insurance Operations Specialist is responsible for verifying insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits for new and existing patients while ensuring compliance with payer guidelines. This role also manages pre-authorizations, resolves insurance-related issues, and serves as a key point of contact for insurance inquiries to support seamless patient care.

This role is hybrid, requiring up to three days a week in person in Langhorne PA and the remaining days can be done remotely.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Verify insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits for all new and existing patients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with payer guidelines.
  • Call insurance companies directly to confirm patient coverage and benefits and resolve issues related to pre-authorizations, referrals, and claims.
  • Serve as a point of contact for patients with questions about their insurance coverage, copays, and billing inquiries, including via Luma
  • Field inbound calls from prospective and existing patients, ensuring their questions are answered efficiently and timely.
  • Manage and track pre-authorizations for clinical services, ensuring they are submitted, approved, and updated in a timely manner.
  • Support patients and other Blackbird departments to help ensure continuity of care
  • Verify and schedule specialty evaluations as necessary.
  • Attend team meetings to support organizational success and participate in ongoing training required by the organization to enhance clinical skills and ensure high-quality services are delivered.
  • Ability to meet quality and efficiency benchmarks
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned by management.
  • Receive and distribute incoming mail and packages. Upload and organize mail and documents as necessary from the Langhorne Office
  • Restock office supplies and ensure the workspace is fully equipped.
  • Tidy up toys and ensure the Langhorne office is well-maintained for visitors and patients.
  • Hybrid work model. In office up to 3 days per week, remaining work hours can be managed remotely

The basics you’ll need:

  • 2-4 years’ health care billing experience working with insurance companies and EHR/PM Systems such as Athena, EPIC, ECW, etc.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in customer service setting
  • Worked in a behavior health setting previously (preferred not required)
